When Increased External Counter Pulsation Technique is used, whether new collateral arteries will be developed ?
After 4 to 7 weeks treatment how do we know adequate collateral arteries are developed?
Does this mean that here after Cholesterol and B.P. control becomes secondary?
Does this mean that chances of heart attacks will be drastically reduced?
Does this mean in future Bypass Surgery may not be required ?
I have already underwent bypass surgery on Dec 6,2007, now I do not have any problem.

These could be possible answers to your questions. I am sorry I did not answer earlier as I was travelling.
Increased External counter pulsation treatment works as an angina pain relief therapy it may be used to reduce the intensity and frequency of angina, and reduce the need for pain or other medication... It is used extensively to relieve the symptoms of coronary artery disease (CAD). It significantly lower the risk of a heart attack. This result is due to improved blood flow and better oxygenation of the heart muscle. It happens as new collaterals have developed post IECP treatment.
It improves the blood and oxygen flow into the heart thereby making the job of the heart easy. You will be able to do normal activity more easily, you may be able to exercise like walk longer distance. May not have angina pain as it works as an Angina relif. Your doctor will reduce your medication intake. You will start seeing changes and this positive effect are just because new collateral are developing and your heart muscle is more oxygenated. The stress on your heart is reducing.
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in your bloodstream and every cell in your body ("bad" cholesterol and "good" cholesterol."). The control of HDL and LDL is as per diet control and exercise also B.P. You may need to take medication if you have not been able to balance it. IECP has no control over it.
Random and established studies show the treatment cycle of 35 hours could reduce the risk of a heart attack. Many centres throughout the world use IECP on patients that are considered high risk of heart attack as they believe it dramatically helps.
