Hi Everyone,

This is something i would like to share with everyone about the operating principle of an ECP machine. All the available legacy ECP systems mainly work on the principle of volume of air. In the volume technology ( that is normally used) the working components are big in size to transfer large volume of air from one area to another and as a result the patient treatment cuffs are filled with large amount of air which primarily when done below the buttocks puts the patient into an uncomfortable bumpy situation also reffered as "horse riding bumps " in which the patient is jumping throughout the treatment which largely is not recommended for patients above 55 years of age. There is a requirement of constant monitoring of the time parameter in the diastolic phase and the technician has to keep adjusting the parameters. The auto functions cannot be accurately adjusted as transfer of air from one area to another is sluggish. The machine is bulky with excessive downtime primarily of moving components.

On the contrary the machine that is based on the velocity similar to one manufactured by TeraMed India under the brand name of IECP is smaller in size, does not have the so called " horse riding bumps" treatment position, the diastolic phase is more accurately calculated, auto functions work more precisely and there is less of downtime even of the moving components.
